Fat-Soluble Vitamin ADEK Supplementation
Cysladek® Oral Drops is an oral liquid formulation containing four essential
fat-soluble
vitamins, Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin E and Vitamin K1 provided in an MCT-based lipid
vehicle. It is formulated to provide fat-soluble vitamin supplementation in patients in
whom nutritional requirements may be increased or absorption may be compromised, based
on the underlying clinical condition and healthcare professional assessment.
Medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) Based Formulation
Medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) are triglycerides containing predominantly medium-chain
fatty acids a lipid-based vehicle for delivery of fat-soluble vitamins. Their
physicochemical and digestive characteristics differ from those of long-chain
triglycerides (LCTs).
Unlike many dietary long-chain fats, medium-chain fatty acids undergo relatively rapid
digestion and absorption and are transported predominantly through the portal
circulation. These characteristics have supported the use of MCTs-containing nutritional
formulations in selected clinical settings where conventional fat digestion or
absorption may be impaired.
Benefits of Medium chain Triglycerides (MCTs)-Based Formulation
Fat-soluble vitamins require an appropriate lipid environment for formulation and
intestinal absorption. MCTs-based vehicle provides a lipid carrier system for
incorporating and delivering Vitamins A, D, E and K in an oral liquid dosage form.
- Improve Solubility: MCTs act as an efficient lipid carrier, helping dissolve and
deliver fat-soluble Vitamins A, D, E & K.
- Enhance Absorption: MCTs are directly absorbed into the portal circulation and
transported bound to albumin, no bile and pancreatic enzymes required.
- Improve Bioavailability: MCTs create a lipophilic environment that enhances the
stability and availability of fat-soluble vitamins for absorption.
- Better Stability: MCTs are less prone to oxidation, contributing to improved
formulation stability and sustained vitamin potency.
